Taraji P Henson Set To Play Shug Avery In Color Purple Remake

The eagerly anticipated revival of ‘The Color Purple’ has added another major star to its roster. For, Taraji P. Henson has boarded Blitz Bazawule‘s big-screen take on the classic narrative in one of the central roles. She’ll star alongside the likes of Corey Hawkins and H.E.R. – whose involvement was announced in August 2021.

The new Warner Bros. incarnation of ‘The Color Purple’ follows the 1985 film, which was anchored by Whoopi Goldberg in the role of Celie. Oprah Winfrey wowed in the role of Sofia and Steven Spielberg served as its director. Read Story
